It will be the first Foodland Farms on Oahu, and the second in Hawaii. Foodland Farms opened its first store at Mauna Lani on the Big Island in December 2007.

“;We are delighted that Foodland will have the opportunity to continue to be a part of the Aina Haina community,”; said Foodland Chief Executive Jenai Wall.

Wall said renewing a long-term lease for the store was important on a personal note - it was the third supermarket opened by her father, founder Maurice J. “;Sully”; Sullivan in a neighborhood where the family lived many years. Also, because customers there have been loyal and supportive.

The multimillion-dollar renovation of the 25,000-square-foot store will take place later this year, during which the store will be closed about four months.

Besides new full-service meat, seafood, and deli departments, Foodland Farms will offer more island produce, a greater selection of organic items, a gelato bar, and the R. Field Wine Co.

Foodland will hire an additional 25 employees to the staff of 42 for the new store. Maikai cards will still be honored.
