Workshops on surviving the difficult times

Authors and teachers Neale Donald Walsch and Alan Cohen will share secrets about how to find opportunity in challenges, move gracefully through transitions in work, finances and relationships and remain prosperous at all times.

Walsch is the author of “;Conversations with God,”; and Cohen has 22 inspirational books and CDs to his credit, including the “;Chicken Soup for the Soul”; series, to which he has contributed.

“;How to Thrive in a Time of Change”; runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Maui Community College in Kahului, and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Unity Church of Hawaii at Diamond Head. Journey adds a second show

With the first Journey show on Oahu selling out in six hours, it seemed only a matter of time before a second would be scheduled at the Blaisdell Arena.

Promoter Tom Moffatt has done just that, with tickets going on sale at 9 a.m. tomorrow for the classic rock band's second Honolulu show on March 25.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are $55, $65 and $75, and will be limited to six per customer.

They'll be available at the Blaisdell Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone at (800) 745-3000 and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Learn to fight pests organically

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply and the Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden are hosting an organic pest control workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Xeriscape Gardens at 999-1268 Iwaena St.

Theodore Radovich of the University of Hawaii will introduce basic principles of organic pest control and discuss labels and safety, and commercial and home-prepared pesticide products.

Participants will create their own mix, so bring a spray container to take home your organic brew.

Pier 1 hosts card contest

For those with kids who are budding artists, have them enter to win a scholarship in the Pier 1 Imports/UNICEF greeting contest. The winning entry will be printed as a holiday greeting card and be sold at Pier 1 Imports stores nationwide.

Grand prize is a $5,000 scholarship, plus his or her school will win $500 worth of art supplies.
