HAWAII

Kapolei to be home to new retailers

Kapolei Commons will soon herald the grand opening of Petco, Sports Authority and OfficeMax.

Petco plans a grand opening celebration on Monday, while Sports Authority will celebrate its grand opening on March 7. OfficeMax will hold a grand opening March 9.

The Kapolei Sports Authority will be the Colorado retailer's third on Oahu, and will celebrate with the appearance of former San Francisco 49ers and University of Hawaii lineman Jesse Sapolu from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 7.

OfficeMax, which already has five stores in Hawaii, is opening its Kapolei location with a new, multi-purpose layout that offers free WiFi access and in-store print and document services.

Petco, which has already opened a store at Kona Commons on the Big Island, is opening its first Oahu store in Kapolei.

Windward Mall ushers in tenants

Windward Mall will be ushering three new merchants to its selection of stores.

Aeropostale, Let's Party Hawaii and Wetzel's Pretzels are scheduled to open by late summer.

Jonathan Kim, general manager of Windward Mall, said a national specialty apparel retailer such as Aeropostale was on its tenant wish list.

Aeropostale will open in late May next to Hot Topic on the upper level. Let's Party Hawaii, a new store by Price Busters, will offer a selection of party supplies in the lower level of the Macy's wing.

Wetzel's Pretzels, which will also open at Ala Moana Center, will offer pretzels with a variety of dips and toppings. It is slated to open in mid-March next to Ninja Sushi on the upper level.
