Seminar to talk about end of life

St. Francis Hospice will present a free workshop on “;Final Rights: Caring for People in the Final Phases of Life,”; from 4 to 8 p.m. March 3.

The workshop for health care professionals and for people who are caregivers for friends and family will be held at the Shinnyo-En Temple, 2348 S. Beretania St.

Doug Smith, author of several books including “;Being a Wounded Healer”; and “;The Tao of Dying,”; will be the speaker. Smith, of Madison, Wis., has 25 years of experience as a counselor, therapist and health care administrator. The workshop will explore the rights of people at the end of life to be in control of treatment, to be told the truth, to have their beliefs and values respected and other subjects.
