'Iolani lost in the state championship game in penalty kicks last season, but has a chance to make up for it now.

The Raiders are the top seed in the HHSAA State Boys Soccer Championships, which begin on Wednesday.

Mililani, Kealakehe and Kamehameha-Maui are the other seeded teams.

The tournament opens on Wednesday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex with Moanalua taking on Roosevelt, Kapolei playing Hilo, King Kekaulike matching up with Kalaheo and Punahou playing Kaiser.

Mid-Pacific will have to take the long route if it is going to repeat as the Division II champion. The Owls are unseeded and will play Konawaena in the first round.

Seabury Hall holds the top seed, followed by Hawaii Prep, Waialua and Kapaa.

The other first-round matchups are McKinley playing Honokaa, Kailua playing Mauka Lani and Radford playing Kamehameha-Hawaii.

The championships are scheduled for Saturday at the main stadium. An ILH team has won every title since 2004 when McKinley took it.
