Washington has received a little aloha from isle businesses this week, with shipments of everything from beer to coffee arriving for inauguration festivities today.

Hawaii Air Cargo donated up to $1,500 worth in shipping services to air freight hundreds of pounds of frozen food and supplies from Da Kitchen restaurant on Maui for the Inaugural Luau to be held tonight at the Hotel Monaco.

“;Because we are local-owned we like to do our part in facilitating and helping people get things done,”; said Michael Mastrogiuseppe, vice president of operations. “;If everybody does a little bit, it helps everybody.”;

There will be three brews from Kona Brewing Co. to help wash down that food, said Mattson Davis, the company's president and chief executive.

Kona Brewing sped up the distribution of its Longboard Island Lager, Fire Rock Pale Ale and Pipeline Porter to Washington from its distributor in Virginia, which has been offering the beer since April.

It shipped in 200-300 cases, each containing 24 bottles, to the luau and several other Hawaii State Society inaugural events. A full roll-out of the beer is expected in the nation's capital and in Maryland in early March.

Hawaii's largest brewer will also tap a special barrel-aged stout, named InaugurALE, at its pubs at Koko Marina and in Kailua-Kona today at 5 p.m.

  “;In the past month, we've definitely noticed a spike in beer sales in Virginia, and we anticipate this trend will continue as the Aloha spirit takes hold at the White House,”; Davis said.

Kau coffee farmers hand-picked and roasted beans for the Hawaii for Obama Inaugural Gala, held Sunday at the Hay-Adams Hotel.

Leo Norberte, president of the Kau Coffee Grower's Cooperative, said farmers gave the coffee as a thank you to the honorary chairs of the ball, which include Sens. Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka, as well as Representatives Neil Abercrombie and Mazie Hirono.

Mountain Apple Co. said it sent a gift of Hawaiian music to the Obama family.

“;As the new first family will undoubtedly be facing difficult times in the near future, the Mountain Apple Co. wanted to share the gift of aloha with them upon their arrival in Washington, D.C.,”; the company said in a statement. Several inaugural celebrations will feature Mountain Apple artists including Raiatea Helm and Eddie Kamae.
