Vehikite gets offer from USC

When Ken Norton Jr. visits the islands, it's usually because he's recruiting Manti Te'o of Punahou.

Yesterday, though, the USC linebackers coach offered a scholarship to Kapolei senior Simione Vehikite.

Vehikite's family moved from Lahainaluna to Makakilo in the offseason. Once here on Oahu, the 6-foot-1, 245-pound lineman shifted to middle linebacker. He recorded 119 tackles and 10 sacks, and also rushed for 460 yards (9.6 yards per attempt) and seven touchdowns.

Vehikite's only other offer so far is from Washington, which recently hired former USC assistant coach Steve Sarkisian.

Paris Gravely led the Sea Warriors (1-5) with 17 points.

The Yellojackets improved to 5-2.
