Gerke, Hogue to speak at QB Club

Hawaii football first-year assistant coach Alex Gerke and Pacific West Conference commissioner Bob Hogue are scheduled to speak at the Honolulu Quarterback Club weekly luncheon tomorrow at the Pagoda Hotel's International Ballroom.

Gerke, who coaches both the running backs and the offensive line, will discuss yesterday's win over Washington State and give his opinion on which of his players have pro potential.

Hogue, who has been the conference commissioner since July 2007, will bring attendees up to date on the current PacWest season and talk about the future of the conference.

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program starts at noon.

Vulcans fall to Vikings

Jessica Summers scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead visiting Western Washington to an 87-61 victory over Hawaii-Hilo yesterday in the final day of the UH-Hilo Women's Invitational at Konawaena High School Gym.

The Vulcans (2-1) shot 34.7 percent from the field on 17-for-49 shooting. Senior guard Ashley Kualii led UH-Hilo with 12 points and Jessica Hanato added 10.

The Vulcans will play Saint Martin's College on December 18.
