Question: The satellite city hall in Windward Mall has been closed since Aug. 29. Any idea yet when it will open in the new Kaneohe location?

Answer: The Kaneohe Satellite City Hall, which was scheduled to open this month, is now targeted to open “;pre-Christmas”; in the Windward City Shopping Center, said city administration spokesman Bill Brennan.

The city is working with the shopping center's contractor, who has been delayed in getting the necessary lighting fixtures from the mainland for the new office, he said.

Once the fixtures arrive and are installed, the city Department of Facility Maintenance will install counters and cabinets, refurbished, from the old Windward Mall office.

At that point “;we should be good to go,”; Brennan said.

Until then Kaneohe residents are directed to visit the Kailua Satellite City Hall, go online (http://www.co.honolulu.hi.us/main/ online_services) or use the mail for city services.

New Number

The number for the city's Household Hazardous Waste Program is 768-3201. An outdated number was given in Monday's “;Kokua Line.”;

» To whoever found my wife's wallet at Safeway recently and turned it in. We didn't realize it was missing until the next morning during a hike with our two sons in St. Louis Heights. We searched the trail and didn't think until the drive home that the wallet might have been lost at Safeway. My wife was in tears when the Safeway manager told her someone had turned it in. Only in Hawaii will you find people who are so caring and honest. So thank you, angel, for being there to help us! - Robert and Tomoko Martin, Hawaii Kai

» To Alfred, who found my wallet in late October and returned it to me. I had just gotten back from a trip a few days earlier and had to attend a funeral. When I was unable to find my wallet, I spent three days frantically searching for it. I canceled my credit cards, and I obtained a duplicate driver's license. Then, I received a manila envelope in the mail, with my wallet inside, wrapped in a note. Some cash was missing, but I was really more concerned about the other items, which were intact. The note only identified the person as Alfred with no return address. I have always taught my children to turn in items they have found. My son always does so and has always received letters rewarding his honesty. I am so glad there are others who show aloha. I hope life treats you with that same aloha, Alfred! - M. Tanaka

» To the patient drivers at the intersection of Atkinson Drive and Ala Moana Boulevard at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. I was riding my bike when I encountered a barrage of wind that flipped the bike over. I am most grateful for your patience while I recovered from the shock of that event and got myself back together and on my way. Thanks to your patience, there were only a few bruises, mostly to my ego. In over 50 years of bicycling, I never encountered anything like that! - Pat Lehman
