POSTED: Thursday, November 27, 2008

Thank goodness Thanksgiving is one of the more sober holidays. You'll need to rest today, eat well, get to bed early and gather up all your strength for Black Friday, the shoppingest day of the year.

Here are a few places to start:

Ala Moana Center

The mall will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and its “;Thanks-GETTING Day”; cheat sheet will help you find the gifts you want with a minimum of walk time. Examples include up to 40 percent discounts at Valerie Joseph, up to 50 percent off at Miss Sixty/Energie, a free product valued up to $10 with a $40 purchase at Lush, a gift of a pink Plumeria pendant ($248 value) with the purchase of a bangle at Philip Rickard, and 30 percent off most items at Silver Rhino. There are too many deals to miss, so you'll want to log on to alamoanacenter.com/pdf/2008cheatsheet.pdf or pick up a copy at the mall's Customer Service Center, information desks or one of the center's roaming Holiday Concierges dressed in green aloha shirt.

Be one of 1,000 customers to find a “;You Win”; sticker on your Thanks-GETTING Day Cheat Sheet, and you'll receive a free Tall Drip Coffee from any Nordstrom Ebar, located on Levels 2 and 3, valid tomorrow only.

Alliway

Black Friday weekend sale runs 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, with 20 to 80 percent off merchandise throughout the store.

To put you in the holiday frame of mind tomorrow, fresh-baked pastries from Coffee Talk will be available, along with mimosas and eggnog. Spend $100 or more and receive your own gift of an Alliway charm necklace, while supplies last.

The boutique is at Ward Warehouse. Call 589-1141.

Cottage by the Sea

Win an “;Obey Thy Heart”; bracelet by Heather Kraty during the designer's trunk show, through Sunday. Enjoy 15 percent off her collection during the event, and drop by the boutique Sunday for breakfast of scones from Cafe Laufer and iced tea to help celebrate Cottage by the Sea's fifth anniversary. Call 591-9811.

Kahala Mall

Tomorrow marks the start of the mall's Holiday Concert Series, with a performance by the newly reinstated Honolulu Boy Choir at 11 a.m. at Center Court. The concert will be followed by a hula performance by Ka Hale I o Kahala Halau Hula, with kumu hula Leimomi Maldonado, at 1 p.m. The events are free.

Performances continue with the hula troupe at noon Saturday, Willie K at 2 p.m. and the Honolulu Community Concert Band at 4 p.m. On Sunday, comedian Augie T. will appear at 1 p.m., and John Cruz performs at 2 p.m.
