Emergency workers feel center's aloha

The Maui Ocean Center is showing appreciation to the personnel of Maui's Police, Fire, EMT and Lifeguard departments with a 50 percent discount off general admission this month and next. Department personnel must present a valid ID upon purchasing admission. Kamaaina adult, child and senior rates are available for family members of rescue personnel with valid Hawaii ID.

Special events taking place during the “;Wave of Gratitude”; promotion period include “;That Bites”; Week, Nov. 23 to 29, which brings guests into the world of marine animal feedings with demonstrations and interactive “;Meet the Diver”; and “;Meet the Aquarist”; tours. Delicious sustainable seafood specials will also be featured in the Seascape Ma'alaea Restaurant during the week.

From Dec. 14 to 25, the “;12 Days of FISH-mas”; features family-oriented entertainment, keiki crafts and more.

And, for holiday shoppers, the Maui Ocean Center store is offering a 20 percent discount off food items this month, and 30 to 60 percent off Christmas ornaments and holiday decor into January.

Additional trolley passes can be purchased on property.

The package rates start from $136 per night at the Ilikai and from $160 per night at the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel. Rates are valid through Dec. 21, 2009, and may not be combined with other specials or discounts. Prices do not include room tax and are subject to availability, and blackout dates apply.
