False kidnap report brings twins' arrest

Police arrested 14-year-old twin brothers after one of them allegedly made a false report that the other had been kidnapped.

Police said that at about 3 p.m. Thursday, one of the boys reported to police that his twin brother was kidnapped on Renton Road in Ewa by four men wearing ski masks.

The boy told officers that the men fled north on Renton Road in a large white van, police said. Police saturated the area with officers searching for the van and boy.

Police determined later that the story was made up because the “;missing”; brother wanted to go out with his girlfriend instead of going home.

The boy who made the report was arrested on suspicion of making a false report to law enforcement. His twin was taken into custody as a runaway.
