Molokai patient airlifted to Oahu

The U.S. Coast Guard airlifted a 52-year-old Molokai man to Oahu last night.

At about 7 p.m., the Coast Guard received a call from a state Department of Health doctor about a man experiencing chest pains in Kalaupapa, Molokai.

A Coast guard HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point flew to Kalaupapa at about 8 p.m., and took the man to the Queen's Medical Center by 9:15 p.m.

Maui woman dies from vehicle crash

A Lahaina woman died after a two-vehicle crash on Honoapiilani Highway, near Napilihau Road in Napili, west Maui, Wednesday night.

Patricia Leengrow, 38, died at Maui Memorial Medical Center early yesterday from injuries she suffered in the crash.

A 42-year-old Lahaina man who was involved in the crash, was taken to the Maui Memorial, where he was treated and released. Details of the crash were not released.

The deaths bring the number of deaths from traffic accidents in Maui County this year to 20, compared with the same number at this time last year.

Man, 42, injured in attack on rival

Police said a 42-year-old man broke into the Palolo Valley apartment of his former girlfriend and assaulted her current boyfriend, but ended up in the hospital.

The 32-year-old girlfriend called police about 9:30 last night saying her ex-boyfriend was fighting with her current boyfriend, 45.

When police arrived, they found the suspect in the master bedroom of the apartment, seriously injured and lying atop a mattress soaked in blood. Police said the old boyfriend bit the current boyfriend in the face, causing injuries. Both the suspect and the new boyfriend were taken to the hospital for treatment. The new boyfriend was treated and released. Police were waiting to arrest the old boyfriend for investigation of second-degree assault and first-degree burglary.

Man charged in stabbing death

Police charged a 27-year-old Kalihi man with murder in the stabbing death of another man late Monday.

Renson Joseph of Kalihi was charged with second-degree murder and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

He is accused of stabbing 36-year-old Otomar Muritok, to whom he was related by marriage. The men were watching TV at a Kaahumanu Homes apartment on Waiakamilo Road about 10:30 p.m. when they argued and Joseph allegedly stabbed Muritok, according to a family member.

Muritok died from an “;injury to the aorta due to a stab wound of the neck,”; according to the city Medical Examiner's Office autopsy.

Boy, 13, charged in sexual assault

Police charged a 13-year-old boy who allegedly raped a younger boy earlier this year.

The older boy was charged at 11 p.m. Wednesday with three counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.

Police said the victim was sexually assaulted more than once before Sept. 1 at a home in Aiea and once in Honolulu. The two are related.

The suspect was arrested Wednesday and sent to a detention home.
