According to the Honolulu Academy of Arts, “;you're never too old to dress up”; for Halloween.

With help from Club Monaco and E&O Trading Company, the Academy will host “;Monster Mosh,”; an upscale costume party that serves as the final installment of “;ARTafterDARK”; at the museum for 2008.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday, with The 86List performing in Central Court until 8 p.m. and Unity Crayons' “;Punk Rock Bizarre”; in Banyan Court until 9 p.m. UH-Manoa student Jacob Holcomb's film, “;Blood Colony,”; will also be screened, with “;Literati Modern, Decades of Abstraction”; open to guests.

 

SATURDAY

”;Planet of the Drums”;

Ong King Art Center

Get ready to dance the night away at the Ong King Art Center this weekend, when Double-O-Spot and Energy present the annual “;Planet of the Drums”; at the Chinatown venue.

Doors open at 9 p.m. Saturday, with local DJs G-Spot and Bass-X on the decks and MC Enemy taking care of hosting duties. They'll be joined in the “;Chill Chamber”; by DJs Risup, Jamz, Thread and Sovern-T, before headliners AK1200, Dara, Dieselboy and Messinian take over to keep the party jumping until 2 a.m.

Adding to the atmosphere that night is Legendary Sounds, who will provide enhanced sound and intelligent lighting. An official afterparty also scheduled at The Shop in Kalihi.
