Sub-Zero / Wolf warms up for fridge series

Sub-Zero/Wolf draws a crowd whenever it holds an event and guests are always full and smiling when they depart. Thursday's party, held to introduce Sub-Zero's new built-in refrigeration series to prolong the freshness of stored foods, was no exception.

To highlight the “;Fresher Foods”; event, organizer Jean Nakanishi brought in some of Hawaii's top food people to offer their products. They included: Dean Okimoto of Nalo Farms, D.K. Kodama of D.K. Restaurants, and Brooks Takenaka of United Fishing Agency. D.K. had large chunks of fish before him and was cutting them up for a sashimi dish. Sub-Zero chef Carol Nardello prepared a special menu featuring food from the aforementioned suppliers as well as from North Shore Cattle Co. What's more, wine expert Chuck Furuya was there with a fine selection of wines. Chuck also served as emcee. It wouldn't be a Sub-Zero party without Chuck. Riggs Distributing President and CEO Bob Riggs and his wife Rita attended. Bob distributes Sub-Zero products. He welcomed guests after Chuck introduced him. Cupcakes from Cupcake Couture in Aina Haina wound up the tasty evening ...

Peter Mondavi of the famed winemaking family will be on hand at Ruth's Chris at Restaurant Row Oct. 22 when the steak house continues its series of winemaker dinners. Wines of Charles Krug winery, operated by the Mondavi family, will be poured. Cost is $85. For reservations call 599-3860 ...

Mountain Apple has inked an agreement for distribution of its “;Christmas Aloha: From Our Ohana To Yours,”; release at local Wal-Mart stores statewide. The album features performances by Kealii Reichel, the Brothers Cazimero, Willie K and Amy Hanaialii.
