Firefighters save homes from fire

Quick action by Big Island fire crews spared two homes that were threatened by fire Sunday.

Crews were called at 3:25 p.m. to Seabreeze and Reef parkways in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates in the Kau District, according to a Hawaii County Fire Department news release.

Firefighters found multiple household goods being stored outside a house that were on fire. Surrounding brush and a storage shed were also burning, according to the release.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 15 minutes and saved most of the household goods and two houses on the property, the release said.

No one was hurt. Damage was estimated at $500. The cause was under investigation.
