Shining Stars: Hyatt Regency makes donations

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa donated $3,221.69 to the Maui Food Bank in January to feed 8,000 people in need.

The Hyatt also donated $20,000 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation over Christmas to benefit children facing life-threatening medical conditions.

The Hawaii Friends for Civil Rights donated $1,000 to the Family Equality Coalition to support its Family Day at the Capitol.

St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii announced the following appointments:

» Dr. Wen-Yu Lee as medical director for St. Francis Hospice. She also serves as a palliative care and pain consultant at Straub Clinic & Hospital and as an associate clinical professor at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.

» Dr. Aida Wen as medical director for St. Francis Palliative Care. She is an assistant professor at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and serves on the medical staff at Kuakini Medical Center, Hawaii Medical Center, Leahi Hospital and Maluhia Hospital.
