Group seeks strong
isle-Hong Kong ties

The Hong Kong Business Association of Hawaii has elected Johnson W.K. Choi to lead the 130-member organization which works to increase investment between Hawaii and Hong Kong and its neighboring regions. Choi takes office Jan. 1.

On Feb. 5, the Hong Kong government will be sending a mission to Hawaii to encourage local companies to bid on U.S.$30 billion in construction work. "They will explain how to bid for the work," Choi said. "It's for infrastructure and buildings."

He is owner of First Hawaiian Capital Planning, a 18-year-old company which does tax and financial consulting work. Choi also was a hotel manager for Aloha Vacation Rentals.

Choi earned a bachelor's degree in travel industry management at the University of Hawaii and a master's in business administration from Chaminade University.

The association was formed in 1994.
