
Are you concerned about the way Asian Americans are depicted in film and television? Panel tackles stereotypes
A panel of prominent Asian-Amerian actors and filmmakers will discuss stereotyped images during the opening weekend of the Hawaii International Film Festival. The forum, sponsored by Paramount Pictures, will be held 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hawaii Theatre.
Invited panelists include actors Amy Hill, Ming-Na Wen, Garrett Wang, playwright Eric Micahel Zee, studio executives James Dowaliby and Monica Chuo, director Kayo Hata, and Chris Lee, president of production, Columbia TriStar.

The Aloha Festivals host a lavish Victorian Royal Ball from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom. Fest hosts Royal Ball
Entertainment will be provided by the Makaha Sons, Halau Hula Olana and Jan Brenner and the AllStars dance band.
The guests of honor will be the Aloha Festivals kings and queens, from the six main Hawaiian islands.
Individual seats at Hoaloha tables are $65. A table for 10 is $650. The price for Ali'i table seating for 10 is $1,000, and the cost of an 'Ahu'ula table, with seating for 8, is $2,500.
