at Westin Maui

Jon Gersonde is in charge of making everything run smoothly at the Westin Maui, including the rooms division, food and beverage, housekeeping and guest relations.

The Westin Maui this year started a new department called "Service Express," which includes 25 persons trained to be the contact for most of the guest information and service needs."This is one-stop shopping," Gersonde said. "You call one number and they handle all of your requests."

He has 14 years experience in the resort business and recently was general manager of The SandCastle, a dinner-show theater and entertainment center on Guam. Gersonde also was at Hyatt Hotels in Australia, Saipan and Guam; La Costa Hotel and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. and the Doubletree Hotel in Vail, Colo. He earned a bachelor's in hotel restaurant and institutional management from Michigan State University.
