Nakama takes
Maui Open title

WAILEA, Maui -- Casey Nakama won the Maui Open after a three-hole playoff with Ron Castillo Jr. yesterday at the Wailea Emerald golf course.

Nakama parred the par-3 third hole as Castillo hit the bunker with his tee shot and couldn't save par. Both had finished with a 54-hole score of 213 as Nakama shot a final-round 74, while Castillo ended with a 70.

A stroke back at 214 with a closing 73 was Henry Sieradzki, who shared the first-round lead with Nakama.

The victory was worth $2,500 to Nakama, who won the event in 1992, also after a playoff.
