WAILUKU -- A memorial service is scheduled tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Seabury Hall in Olinda for artist David Warren, one of the early leaders of the Lahaina Arts Society.

“He put his whole heart and soul in whatever he did,” said Mona Harris, society gallery director.

Harris said Warren, who also was a celebrated actor in the Maui theatrical community, maintained a childlike quality about life and an enthusiasm in exploring different forms of art.

Warren, 58, of Pukalani died Thursday from injuries sustained after a pickup truck struck him Sunday night.

He served as president of the Lahaina Arts Society, which displays works of artists on Maui and also operates an outreach program to teach the arts to children on the Valley Isle.

Warren, who had a studio in Makawao, often painted figures in motion such as dancers, and mixed his love of the performing arts with his visual art.
