Nabors’ blast was
a slam dunk

Mug shot JIM NABORS, singing rock 'n' roll and displaying Travolta-like steps on the dance floor, tossed a smashing outdoor party for 200 guests at his Diamond Head beachfront home last Saturday night. Besides singing "Shake, Rattle and Roll" and dancing with Emme Tomimbang, Linda Coble and Margaret Murchie, Nabors sang the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" with Loyal Garner. Karen Keawehawaii, Jimmy Borges and that sassy duo of Barbi Benton and Carol Conner also sang, backed by the hot Nueva Vida band. Sina Foley and Darrell Canter were the band singers...

NABORLY COMMENTS: John Farias, Keawehawaii's husband, said he and Karen met years ago when she was singing jazz and pops with the Laughing Kahunas at the then Kahala Hilton and he was a bartender there. Karen made reference to her terrific waistline in those days. April Masini, who worked like a fiend with husband Al Masini on the Miss Universe pageant, said she lost 15 to 18 pounds on that project. Milton I pointed to waves offshore and said he surfs out there every morning. Borges invited two of his former bosses, Noel Trainor of the Hilton Village and the Alana's Glen Perry, to his and Shari Lynn's Sept. 25 Arts Academy concert. Kiana Gentry with daughter, Angel, said former Il Fresco co-owner Mary Ann Holt is living in San Fran ... The Honolulu Symphony's Michael Tiknis said he's happy Nabors is co-chair of the Symphony's latest fund drive ... Judges Jim Burns and Marie Milks represented the judiciary ...

The students were urged to be kind to smaller or handicapped kids.
