Seki leads First Fed through merger

Jean K. Seki takes over the top spot at First Federal Savings & Loan, following the retirement of Rodney R. Shinkawa.

Seki will work with Bank of Hawaii on a merger strategy to handle customer accounts and consolidate branches. The two units of Pacific Century Financial Corp. are scheduled to merge later this year.

"For the present time, there are no changes and it's business as usual. We are here ready to serve our customers just as we have been in the past," said Seki, who will oversee the thrift through the transition. "First Federal has been through a number of mergers before, and we are highly aware of the need to maintain communication and take care of both our customers and our staff members."

Seki was senior vice president for branch administration, and looked after branch operations for 18 years. Seki joined First Federal in 1965 as a teller.
