Kahala Mandarin hires new g.m.

A 20-year veteran of Westin Hotels & Resorts will become general manager of the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hotel June 1. Since 1993, Bernard Agache, has been managing director of two Westin properties in Singapore, the Westin Stamford and the Westin Plaza.

This is not Agache's first Hawaii job. He was the first managing director of the Westin Maui from 1986 until February 1991. Agache is a graduate of Hotel Management School in Toulouse, France.

He replaces Seamus McManus, who left last month after two years at the Kahala to manage Claridge's Hotel in London.

HMS Investments, formed in 1995, is a partnership of mainland venture capital firms and private investors. It was started with a limited partnership investment of $2 million by the Hawaii Strategic Development Corp., a state agency.
