Helping St. Francis branch out

R. Don Olden looks after the finances at St. Francis Healthcare, which recently came out with a new health insurance plan, the St. Francis Preferred Provider Plan. It links up specialty care physicians, hospitals, clinics and other health-care professionals throughout the state.

The plan is a joint venture with First Choice Consultants Inc., with offices in Hawaii and Nevada. Underwriter is American Medical and Life Insurance Co., of New York. "We'll start marketing the plan in 60 days," Olden said.

He has 15 years as a chief financial officer at health-care facilities, mostly in Sacramento and Los Angeles. He left Hillcrest Healthcare System in Tulsa, Okla. to come to Hawaii as a consultant. "My wife grew up in Honolulu and we decided to move here about a year ago," he said.

He earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Tulsa.
