


Hawaii Pacific University dropped two notches to No. 7 in this week's NAIA national basketball rankings while Brigham Young-Hawaii jumped five spots to No. 13. HPU is No. 7, BYUH 13th
HPU (13-3) slipped from the fifth spot after a triple-overtime loss at Western Washington. BYUH (13-4) advanced five places for the second week in a row.
Birmingham (Ala.) Southern (19-0) held the No. 1 spot with all 18 first-place votes and 500 points, to 474 for runner-up Georgetown (Ky.)
The Seasiders rank sixth in the NAIA in scoring offense at 94.8 points per game, seventh in field goal percentage (.515) and 3-point field goal percentage (.410), and 14th in average scoring margin (15.2).
Hawaii Pacific is 13th in scoring margin (15.3) and the Sea Warriors' Shannon Lee is tied for seventh in assists per game with 6.9.
UH SPIKERS FIFTH IN TWO POLLS: The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team was No. 5 nationally in both the Volleyball Magazine and USA Today, AVCA Coaches polls released yesterday.
A week ago, the Rainbows (4-1) were fifth in the coaches rankings and sixth in the magazine poll.
RAINBOWS' TENNIS TEAMS LOSE: The University of Hawaii men's and women's tennis teams were swept by Stanford's defending national champions yesterday at Stanford, Calif., the UH men taking a 7-0 beating and the Wahine losing by an 8-1 score.
