Grune leads Hawaii Stevedores Inc.

Randy Grune takes the helm at Hawaii Stevedores Inc., replacing George Serikako, who retired after 36 years with the company and its predecessor, Castle & Cooke Terminals Ltd.

"We are building the company with a very experienced management team," Grune said. "The challenge in this business environment of increasing costs and decreasing volumes is to keep the organization progressing and maintain our customer base. You have to have a strategic plan and long-term vision."

Grune joined Hawaii Stevedores in 1991 as its project and property manager and moved up to vice president for administration and executive vice president and chief operating officer.

He earned a bachelor's degree in geography and political science from the University of Colorado and a master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Hawaii.

Hawaii Stevedores specializes in loading and unloading of marine cargo and provides other services for domestic and foreign carriers.
