Vulcans stun Aztecs in 10

HILO -- Felipe Caoili and Anthony Jackson delivered RBI singles in the 10th inning last night to boost the University of Hawaii at Hilo to an 8-7 nonconference baseball victory over San Diego State at the UHH Stadium.

The Vulcans improved to 17-29-1. The Aztecs dropped to 36-18-1.

ALL-REGION HONORS: Two Hawaii Pacific University softball players were named to the NAIA Far West/Pacific Northwest All-Region Team yesterday.

Honored were junior first baseman Felisa Pascua and senior right fielder Michele Ringor. The pair, both All-Americans last season, are again eligible for All-American consideration.

UHH TIES FOR SEVENTH: At St. Joseph, Mo., the University of Hawaii at Hilo men's golf team finished the 54-hole NCAA Division II West Regional tied for seventh with Texas A&M-Commerce.

Missouri Western won the title in a playoff with Central Oklahoma.

Stu Cohen led UHH with a 234.

MOYNAHAN TRIUMPHS: Brendan Moynahan captured the GTE Hawaiian Tel Hall of Fame golf championship Monday at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui, with a 36-hole score of 146.

Moynahan won by two strokes over Scott Gileta after finishing with a final-round 76.

Masa Kaya took the senior flight with a 76--151.
