Taking care of niche business

Romano Durini will be going after more customers for NCR Corp. in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.

NCR Corp. is involved in computer systems, store automation, banking systems, consulting services and support services for customers in 130 countries. NCR has 42 employees in Hawaii.

"We've got a special niche in the computer market and we're strong with financial institutions in Hawaii," Durini said.

He started with NCR 37 years ago as a systems engineer in San Jose, Calif. and previously served as vice president of NCR sales and customer support for Hawaii from 1989 to 1994, based in Los Angeles.

Durini also has been vice president of NCR's western division, and general manager of the micrographic systems division.

He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Zurich University in Switzerland.
