Big band break

Got a garage band and feel that you'd be famous if not for the fact that you live on a rock?

Musician magazine just may be offering the break you've been looking for if you've got two of your best songs on cassette. The magazine is accepting applications through Dec. 31 for its 1997 Best Unsigned Band Competition, open to artists of every genre.

Twelve BUB winners will be decided by judges Tori Amos, guitar god Joe Satriani, alternative veteran Bob Mould, country picker Vince Gill and blues legend Buddy Guy.
