The daylong event includes arts and crafts booths, games for the keikis, food booths and door prizes.

More than 14 halau and 41 children from throughout Hawaii will compete in the Plantation Room as part of a three-day Aloha Festival celebration. The hula competition begins at 5 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.
Tickets are $10 for adult each night; $18 for both nights. Keikis under 12 are $5 each night or $8 for both nights. Reserved tickets are $15.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center performance will be 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15. On Oahu, the dancers will appear at Hawaii Theatre 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16, performing excerpts from classical ballets such as "Swan Lake," "Don Quixote," and lesser known works from the Bolshoi repertoire, such as "The Flames of Paris" and "Walpurgis Night."
In addition, Shamil Yagudin, ballet master from the Bolshoi, has hand-picked 13 Hawaii ballet students to perform a brief excerpt from "Swan Lake."
Tickets in Honolulu are $32.50, $50 and $75 for a VIP package that includes choice seats and a post-performance reception with the artists. The awards honor the best restaurants in Hawaii as voted by Honolulu Magazine readers. The ceremony will be held in advance of the "Dining and Dancing with Doc" entertainment.
The event also features a silent auction that includes private musical performances by Symphony members and a fishing trip to Canada's St. Lawrence Islands.
Tables for 10 range in price from $1,500 to $5,000 with each including some special gifts ranging from VIP Symphony tickets, a wine tasting party by Richard Field, exclusive cocktail party at the new First Hawaiian Bank Contemporary Museum Exhibition Gallery (March 1997), and a dinner with Symphony Maestro Samuel Wong on May 11.
