Big stuff on 'Net:
Warrior Konishiki

He's huge, he's ready and he's on the 'Net.

Konishiki, a Hawaii-born sumo wrestler, is the first sumotori with a homepage, http://www.ibm.park.org/Japan/Konishiki/index-e.html, on the Internet.

Be warned - despite being helped by IBM, the page is a slow-loader. But don't give up, because it comes complete with video clips of Konishiki.

In a simple introduction, the University Lab School graduate asks for some help in the tournament starting Sunday.

"This season my status is Maegashira Yonmaime and I will be fighting against the okozuna and the ozekis. I will try my best so please cheer for me," he said.

Last week he used the Internet to talk live with young sumo fans from Tokyo, London, Honolulu and Seoul.

Konishiki told the children "you learn more by losing than by winning a match and the important thing in life is to strive towards your dream little by little."

Don't be fooled by his humility and charm. As his own Web page explains, once the world's heaviest sumo wrestler steps in the dohyo (sumo ring), his "witty smile is gone and he turns into a mean warrior."

"Once stared at by Konishiki, the other sumo wrestlers are like frogs stared at by a snake."
