A prix-fixe dinner tomorrow through Tuesday at Bali-by-the-Sea restaurant features rare lamb loin prepared with hot chile, toasted cardamom, ground pepper and fresh cilantro; then drizzled with mint chutney and served with green herb risotto.
Kenney is chef/owner of Matthew's restaurant and Bar Anise in New York City. Food & Wine magazine named him a Best New Chef in America.

Tequila!: It's more than frat party sauce. And Compadres will prove it at its annual Tequilafest! running Sept. 1 through 16 and showcasing tequila's versatility as a cooking ingredient.

Taro, taro, taro: The Urban Garden Center puts taro on the table from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 7, with volunteers on hand to talk about the harvesting and preparation of the Hawaiian staple. The UGC currently plants more than 70 varieties of taro, and volunteers will be on hand to answer home planting questions. The UGC is at 962 Second Street in Pearl City.
