Lili'uokalani honors

Leo Anderson Akana returns as "Lili'uokalani," Aldyth Morris' masterpiece about Hawaii's last queen, in a tour of Aloha Festival around the state.

Roseanne Kalamau Anderson plays Kala, and the work is directed by Robert Stach.

The road engagement begins at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 and 27 at Hawaii Theatre Center, Oahu; 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5 and 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at Iao Theatre, Maui; 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at Kauai Community College Theatre; 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2 and 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at Kona Aloha Theatre, Big Island.

Admission is $9 and $13; $5 and $8 students and seniors or with Aloha Festivals ribbon. Information: 732-8805.

Meanwhile, the Ninth annual Queen's Serenade commemorating Lili'uokalani's birthday will be held Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. at the Iolani Palace grounds. Admission is free. Call 522-0822.



Auction for Girl Scouts

A fund-raising collectible auction to benefit the Girl Scout Council of Hawaii will be held Sept. 21 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Historic Waterhouse Home and Girl Scout Hale, 420 Wylie St.

A silent auction will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.; the live auction 4 to 6 p.m.

Among the items to be auctioned include lacquered candle sticks, Leetag Tahitian paintings and a B&G Munich Plate.

Proceeds will support the girl scouts outreach programs and activities in Hawaii.

Antique auction items can be viewed at no charge on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Girl Scout Hale.

Admission to the auction and ice cream function is $30; $25 for those wearing Aloha Week Ribbons. Bidders are limited to the first 300.
