"We've had it continuously for the last seven years and take care of more than 5,000 people a year," Fusuma said of the service. "There are men who want help in finding out the latest fashions for their daughters and we also help with wedding gifts. We also do phone service to people all over the world."

Consultants either accompany customers in the store or gather selections in advance. There is no charge for the service.

Fusuma first joined Liberty House in 1989 as a cosmetics sales clerk. She then worked seven years for the wholesale California Mart in Los Angeles before returning to Hawaii in 1984.

She earned a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising at the University of Hawaii.
