Kahn to lead travel industry joint venture

A joint venture of leading tourism industry companies has formed to target business opportunities generated by the Hawaii Convention Center.

Mary Beth Kahn will be vice president of sales for the new Hawaii Convention Connection.

Mary Charles & Associates, a large Hawaii destination management company, is teaming up with Convention Management Resources, a housing services company from California, to form the joint venture.

Hawaii Convention Connection has submitted a proposal to be the housing bureau for the new facility, managing hotel reservation plans for conventioneers.

"Clients are looking for a one-stop shop to make all the arrangements," Kahn said.

Kahn joined MC&A in 1984. She then worked for American Express In-Bound Travel before returning to MC&A in 1987.

Kahn earned a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Hawaii.
