Ramsay draws a football picture

Ramsay
I THOUGHT I knew Ramsay pretty well but after reading Lance Tominaga's well-written piece on the artist in the August Aloha magazine, I learned even more. But Lance didn't find out the story about Ramsay and Michigan State Spartans football coach Biggie Munn. Ramsay's parents, Robert and Ruth Ann Ramsay, were resident advisers in the early-1950s for 1,500 MSU young men, including the football players. Little Ramsay was the darling of the team. She still has a football signed by the coach and team members. Munn, who had a blazing 28-game winning streak going from 1950-53, gave Ramsay his lucky silver dollar as a present. His team lost the very next game to the Purdue Boilermakers, 6-0 ...

Jim Nicholson
I CALLED former MSU and Kansas City Chiefs lineman Jim Nicholson, an attorney, to talk about the Ramsay-Munn connection. Jim was a Spartan in 1968-72. He referred me to Larry Cundiff. "He's the oldest Spartan around," said big Jim about Cundiff. Cundiff also coached prep star Nicholson at St. Louis. The "oldest Spartan" could not be reached for comment ...

Lincoln class donates desk

THE Lincoln Elementary Class of '41 held a reunion last weekend. A mellow party was held Friday evening at the Dutchy Schuman home, followed by lunch on the school grounds the following day. About 40 people attended. The school, now the Academy Arts Center, is part of the Academy of Arts. The grads gave the academy a koa reception desk which will be used at the arts center and thanked the academy for taking care of the school building. Jovial Bobby Moore, who grew up to become quite a running back at Kamehameha and UH, chaired the reunion ...

ROBIN LEACH, "Young and the Restless" actress Victoria Rowell and their camera crew hit A Pacific Cafe after they went to Chai Chaowasaree's Singha Thai to Thai one on. Gosh, that sounds like one of Dean Witter stockbroker Bob Asakura's puny puns. Leach is filming a "Gourmet Getaways" special.
