Saltwater croc living in Florida
QUESTION: What ever happened to the saltwater crocodile at the Waikiki Aquarium?
ANSWER: He is now at a crocodile farm in Bushnell, Fla., and measures more than 12 feet and weighs more than 600 pounds.
The little saltwater crocodile measured less than 16 inches on arrival at the Waikiki Aquarium in 1978. Later, aquarium personnel realized they had to find a new home for the growing reptile.
By 1986 it was more than three feet long and had outgrown the exhibit. So in 1986, it was shipped to a Texas facility and later to Florida.
His new handlers have named him "Morton," presumably because he's a saltwater crocodile, said Bruce Carlson, director, Waikiki Aquarium.
