"I was basically fired," Hagar told the paper. "After 11 years of hearing the worst stories in the world about this guy. I turned my back and Edward (Van Halen) and (Roth) are in the studio together."
Apparently a rift started between Hagar and the rest of the band over Hagar's reluctance to record songs for a greatest hits album.
Hagar said the group's manager, Ray Daniels, who is drummer Alex Van Halen's brother-in-law, is throwing lots of money the band's way to get the album recorded.
"Why become a nostalgia act just because KISS is back on the road?" Hagar told the Chronicle.
