"The only way to compete with other fast food chains is by having more sites and better locations than your competitors," Dias said.
Blimpie has grown to 12 locations in the Pacific in just four years, he said, with one of the most recent Hawaii openings being inside a convenience store at a Texaco station near Waikiki.
Dias has been working in restaurants for about 25 years, including 15 years as a general manager for the Spencecliff Corp. Dias had a Blimpie franchise in Kailua for two years before selling it last year, he said.
Blimpie has 1,500 restaurants nationwide.
