AGRICULTURE

Cooperative Extension Service, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources: Food Irradiation workshop offered around the state. Learn about irradiation technology, radiation sources, facilities, doses, what happens to insects, food or plants when irradiated, purpose and application of irradiation, and safety, consumer and policy issues. Also learn about the test-marketing of irradiated Hawaii-grown fruit shipped to Indiana, Illinois and Ohio in 1995. Workshops start at 9 a.m., dates and locations follow: May 28, State Office Building, 3060 Eiwa St., Room A-C, Lihue; June 6, Komohana Agricultural Complex, 875 Komahana St., Room A, Hilo; June 13, Maui Community College, Community Services Building, Kahului.
