If there's anything the people at Honolulu's two major daily newspapers have learned in the last century and a half, it's that things change. It's the essence of the social rhythm we call "news." Each day is different than the next, and in the long run, relationships bond and break, the world spins a little farther, each generation creates new generations, and each adapts to what's thrown at them. The only thing that never changes is the essence of change itself.

The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin have a long and tangled history together, but in the end, each paper was better for having the other as a sparring partner.

The bell has rung. It's time for yet another change. Tomorrow will bring even more adventures, and we'll be here to report and interpret them for you.

The ride isn't over. Every day, it's just begun.
