The Cabaret Dancers of Hawaii, from left, Doris Davis, 86; Josephine Carreira, 78; and Christina Dougherty, 78, entertained the crowd at the Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage's 30th "Festa" -- that's Portuguese for "festival" -- Saturday at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Beach Park. Comedian Frank De Lima headlined the local entertainment lineup, as Festa-goers enjoy arts and crafts for sale, multiethnic genealogy consultations, cultural displays and plenty of Portuguese fare. Food selections included hot malasadas, Portuguese bean soup, vinha d'alhos pork, cod fish stew and -- a growing Festa favorite -- Portuguese sausage on sweetbread buns. Revenue generated at Festa will support the programs coordinated by the council and its member organizations across the state, such as genealogy workshops, dance classes, cooking shows, language instruction and more.
