Kauai Pow Wow Council holds Kapaa Beach event

The Kauai Pow Wow Council is hosting its 11th annual Pow Wow at Kapaa Beach Park, Kauai, Friday through Sunday, with the theme, "Drum: The Heartbeat of the People."

The free event will feature Native American dancing, drumming, singing, storytelling, arts and crafts, a silent auction and food.

The event starts with an Educational Outreach Program from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the Lydgate Pavilion, followed by a fair at Kapaa Beach Park, with vendors selling Native American crafted jewelry, drums, flutes, and other handmade items as well as fry bread.

Then, from 6 to 9 p.m., there will be an Intercultural Indigenous drum gathering.

The pow wow takes place 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, including intertribal dancing, singing, storytelling, keiki crafts, craft sales and a silent auction.
