Martin & MacArthur, well known for its koa furniture, is holding a Founder's Event through Sept. 21, honoring founder Jon Martin
, 71. Martin started the company in 1961. He will be at M & M's 1815 Kahai St. showroom throughout the event, signing and inscribing all furniture pieces purchased. Some pieces have been reduced up to 50 percent. Martin and his team have created more than 150 pieces of koa furniture for the event. The Clef Bench has been brought back into production and is a highlight. The bench was inspired by a design created by Hawaiian furniture maker Henry Weeks, Jr.

Paddle surfing cruised into the CBS Nightly News Monday, showing Laird Hamilton paddling with his young daughter standing with him on his board and then giving CBS' Sandra Hughes instruction when she decided to give it a go at Malibu, Calif.
