Sixth-grader Shimura wins $1,500 in contest
Matthew Shimura, a Punahou School sixth-grader, was awarded $15,000 as the grand-prize winner of the "Aloha State Stories: Promise of Justice for All" video contest sponsored by the
Hawaii State Bar Association. His entry was titled "Promise of Justice."
Catherine Bailey recently was appointed by Kaiser Permanente Hawaii as director of product development. She has 28 years of health care experience, most recently as sole owner of a health-care consulting firm.
Eric R. Matsunaga was appointed director of marketing and public affairs by the University of Hawaii-Manoa's College of Engineering. He previously was special-events manager for the Manoa chancellor's office and special-events coordinator for the UH president's office.
Midge Blandamer, formerly nursing service director at North Alabama Regional Hospital in Decatur, Ala., was named director of nursing at Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health. She is board-certified as a psychiatric-mental health clinical nurse specialist and advanced chief nurse executive with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
