Forum to explain CO2 effect on oceans
Star-Bulletin staff
University of Hawaii oceanographer Richard E. Zeebe will discuss the consequences of human carbon dioxide emissions on the ocean in a community forum in chemistry from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Windward Community College.
The free forum will be in the Science Complex, Hale 'Imiloa 111, on the campus at 45-720 Keaahala Road. Co-sponsors are the American Chemical Society-Hawaii Section, VWR International and INBRE (IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence).
Zeebe will explain the chemistry of ocean acidification, resulting from atmospheric carbon dioxide dissolved in sea water, and the role oceans play in the global carbon cycle.
