FHS alums' group awards scholarships
The
Farrington Alumni & Community Foundation awarded $85,500 in scholarships to 38 seniors to attend college or trade schools.
The Monsanto Hawaii Life Sciences Scholarship program gave $1,000 to the following 10 high school students: Lauren Esaki of Kapaa High School; Rachel Ikehara, Campbell High School; Mikaela Lum and Ashley Ventimiglia of King Kekaulike High School; Kristi Matsunaga, Baldwin High School; Kimberley Mayfield, Island School; Cassandra Ogura-Yamada, Konawaena High School; Reed Sakamoto, Mid-Pacific Institute; Roger Shiu, Roosevelt High School; and Kelsy Takashima, Molokai High School.
The Hawaii State Bar Association raised $27,000 to benefit the HSBA and Young Lawyers Division community and educational outreach programs; the Hawaii Justice Foundation and its Access to Justice programs; and the Friends of the Family Specialty Courts. Also, Matthew Shimura, a sixth-grader at Punahou School was awarded $1,500 as the grand prize winner of the Aloha State Stories: Promise of Justice for All video contest.
Costco Hawaii donated $180,000 for a new ultrasound machine for the Fetal Diagnostic Center at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
