Joel Paschal and Marcus Eriksen sailed for almost three months, covering 2,300 miles from Long Beach Aquarium in California to Honolulu, arriving Wednesday aboard a raft made of 15,000 plastic bottles and part of a Cessna 310. The voyage was made to bring attention to the increasing environmental problem of plastic debris in the Pacific. Yesterday the raft, named Junk, was taken apart as it docked next to the Ala Wai Harbor fuel dock. It will be reassembled on the front lawn of the Waikiki Aquarium for all to inspect. Anna Cummins and Eriksen gave each other a kiss as they took the rope lashings off the raft. They plan to get married in March. Cummins provided the logistical support for Paschal and Eriksen during the trip.
